Did you know that sugar is slowing poisoning you? Although you may not see it short-term, there are numerous long-term consequences of constantly eating sugar.

Your body is not your own, and it is very important to be a proper steward of it.

1. Poor digestion

Do you feel as though there is a rock in your stomach after you have eaten? Sugar greatly hinders proper digestion (source), and lack of proper digestion can lead to numerous health issues, including, but not limited, to colon cancer (source). Anytime you think of the word cancer, hospital visits, chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery come to mind. Having cancer means that you are unable to take care of yourself and unable to serve God fully.

2.  Thyroid issues

Sugar also upsets your hormonal balances (source). What happens when your hormones are unbalanced? You may feel an increased heart rate, great fatigue, and insomnia. Since you can barely concentrate, your life becomes a whirl.

Oh, you need to drive to work? You need to be praying the entire time so that you don’t lose focus and cause a car accident. You wonder how you will make it through the next hour!

3. Skin breakouts

Having skin breakouts is embarrassing and makes you self-conscious. Yes, sugar is a culprit here too!

Skin health begins on the inside, and sugar is destroying your skin health from the inside (source). No matter what expensive cream or face wash you use on your face, nothing is getting rid of these breakouts. You feel hopeless and think you will be going through your entire life looking like this!

Lastly, let’s take a look at three ways to beat the sugar craving.

  1. Detoxify your body.

Only switching to a healthier diet will not make you healthier. If your house has clutter in it, bringing in fresh flowers will brighten your house. However, it’s also important to get rid of the clutter. Likewise, getting rid of all that sugar and other chemicals you’ve been ingesting is imperative to get rid of your cravings. My clients have been amazed at the power of a proper detox!

  1. Receive proper nutrition.

Because of modern farming practices (not rotating crops and not allowing the land to rest), nutrition cannot come from your food alone. Even if you grow all your own food, it is not possible to receive all the nutrition that you need from it. Receiving proper nutrition is a vital part of my work with my clients!

Leviticus 25:3-4

Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

  1. Receive support.

Going against what is normal and accepted in society can definitely make you feel as though you are alone and the only one who is conscious of what you are feeding your body.
