In many places in the USA, gyms are closed. Although I have never had a gym membership, my favorite exercise is walking. After reading Thirty Chic Days by Fiona Ferris and The Jane Austen Diet, I have made it a point to walk every day, even if it is only 15-20 minutes. My goal is one hour, though.
Truly there are no drawbacks to walking daily. Here are a few benefits I have experienced:
- Being outside in the fresh air
- Listening to a book as I walk
- Walking with a friend and catching up with her
- Improved metabolism
- More restful sleep at night
- Being more alert
