Happy Thanksgiving! I trust that this year you will be able to celebrate with loved ones.
Even in the midst of much uncertainty and turmoil in the world, we have so much for which to be grateful.
Here is a short and certainly not comprehensive list of gratitude for me (in no particular order):
- My husband
- My parents, brother, uncles, aunts, and cousins
- Caring friends
- My health
- The comfort and guidance of God’s Word
- Books that encourage and challenge me in my life
- Beautiful fall foliage
- God’s provision for our family
- My pen pals
- Healthy food
- Our aloe and vitamins
- Natural remedies
- My blog readers and customers
In closing, I’d like to share with you a beautiful Thanksgiving hymn we sang at church this past Sunday, “Now Thank We All Our God.” (You can listen to it here, in case you are not familiar with the hymn or melody)
1 Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.
2 O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in his grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
of this world in the next.
3 All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest,
who reign in highest heaven
the one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.
This beautiful hymn was written by Martin Rinkart. You can read more about him here.
