Spring is officially here, and we should have more sunshine and daylight.  Here are just a few benefits of being outside and absorbing more sunshine.

Please note that if you will be outside between 10 am and 2 pm for an extended period of time, it is vital to use quality sun protection.  Go here to learn about sunburn.

1.  Sunshine is a natural mood booster.

Some people feel gloomy during winter because of lack of sunlight, and when sunnier days come, they feel so much better.  If you have been inside all day and feel moody or just down, make it a priority to get outside for some sunshine, or sit next to a window where there is sun shining in!

2.  Sunshine naturally energizes you.

If you are inside most of the day, be sure to get outside for about fifteen minutes of sunshine to feel more energized.  During the day, instead of drinking endless amounts of coffee, take breaks to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine.  Eat your lunch outside or take a walk to get more sunshine!

3.  Sunshine give you a natural dose of Vitamin D.

5. Sunshine naturally bleaches.

Instead of bleaching your clothes and decreasing their life span in the process, hang them outside to line dry.  A bonus benefit is that you won’t ruin the clothes you are currently wearing by spilling bleach on them (as I have done in the past!).  When you are line drying darks, you may want to

6. Sunshine supports your immunity.

I am all for vitamins, yet you can get some by being outside on sunny days!  Spend as much time outside on sunny days, and you may not need to worry about illness as much when fall and winter come.  (source)  During fall and winter, it is equally important to spend time outside to boost your Vitamin D levels.

7.  Sunshine helps you get a good night’s sleep.

Exposure to sunshine early in the morning can help you sleep better at night.  How can you get more sunshine in the morning?  Read or journal on your deck or patio, work in the garden, take a walk, or just take your lap top computer outside and work there!
