“I’m too tired to exercise,” you may think after a long day of working or taking care of your family.
That is what your mind tells you, yet if you take time to exercise, you will be surprised at how much better you will feel.
Exercise does not need to happen in a gym; it also does not need to be something you dread or dislike. 7 Ways to Exercise More can help you with some tips to enjoy your exercise time more!
Just like any other healthy habit, exercise needs to be consistent in your life in order for you to benefit from it fully. Here are just nine of the many benefits of exercise:
1. Exercise improves your mood.
Do you feel as though the smallest incidents bother you? Get outside and go for a walk, or play a game of volleyball in your back yard.
2. Exercise improves the health of your heart.
Because of the prevalence and convenience of fast food, your heart may be suffering from all the grease. Add a lack of exercise, and that is a recipe for disaster.
Exercise helps the blood to circulate properly through your body.
3. Exercise reduces stress.
Life can become unbearably stressful sometimes. Take time to exercise, and watch your stress levels drop.
4. Exercise can help you sleep better at night.
Since we do not move enough, we can be tired emotionally and mentally but not physically. Begin to exercise regularly and notice how much better you sleep at night.
5. Exercise can reduce your risk of many diseases.
According to the Mayo Clinic, these diseases can be avoided by regular exercise:
- Stroke
- Metabolic syndrome
- High blood pressure
- Type 2 diabetes
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Many types of cancer
- Arthritis
- Falls
6. Exercise improves your digestion.
While many factors affect your digestive health, exercise is one way to improve it.
7. Exercise is an excellent way to make friends.
Before we were married and even now, my husband and I love to take walks together.
Instead of meeting a friend for coffee, meet her for a walk! You’ll be out in the fresh air and sunshine, and a walk will be quieter and more peaceful that a coffee shop. 🙂
8. Exercise is excellent for you muscles’ health.
If your muscles are constantly sore, it may be that you are not using them enough. Because of a lack of exercise in my life, I used to have sore muscles the rare times I did exercise. However, during my recent cleanse, I walked briskly for at least 35 minutes each day (up to 75 minutes), and my muscles were hardly sore. Why? I was using them on a regular basis!
9. Exercise can help you manage your weight.
Yes, it is important to eat healthy food and not to overeat. Another factor in weight management is exercise. Again, with our inactive lifestyles, it’s important to make conscious decisions to exercise more.

Such good points and reasons to be exercising! I needed this reminder too on how easy it is to incorporate exercise into my daily routine by making easy changes (like meeting a friend for a walk instead of coffee!)!
Elissa, thank you so much for your kind words. I trust you have been inspired to exercise more. 🙂
